Welcome to The Online Blues, what I hope will grow to be as comprehensive a repository of blues lyrics as possible.

As many of you probably suspect, my promise to read and respond to your e-mails has turned out to be another unkept promise. Oh, I have all your e-mails downloaded, I just haven't had a chance read them and adequately respond yet. I feel like a heel since some of you really do write me great stuff (especially A.). I really do still intend on writing you guys and thanking you, I just don't know when I'm going to get the free time. That's the bad news. The good news is the new hosting company has phpBB so I set up a message board for you all to mix and do a much better job of answering each other than I'm currently doing. You can find the forums *removed* until I add them to all the pages. I have them split into 2 main categories: The Online Blues for discussing things online, and The Live Blues for discussing regional events, bands, etc. I you can think of anything I missed or would be good to have, post it in The Crossroads which we'll use as a general forum for now. And please, please, please play nice.

In a fit of irony, I didn't fix the link to Bukka White here on the front page where I announced that I fixed the Bukka white links. The link is fixed here now as well.

If you're seeing this it means the new address for the site is resolved for you. The URL is the same, but I changed hosting companies this morning. The biggest news in that realm for you is that the new host gives me an outgoing mail account, where the old one didn't. That means I'll actually try answering your mail since I'll be able to use the nebulous identity of "webmaster" instead of my actual real life email account. In with this update is the start of the update to the Ray Charles lyrics section. Also fixed is the link on each page going to Bukka White
being labeled as BB King.

I also got a new laptop and virus software for Christmas and for New Years I resolved to work on the site more. Let's hope I'm better at that than I've been at losing weight, working out, and saving money...

Well, it's been a busy couple of months. The wife and I bought a 91 year old house and rescued a stray dog. Sadly the one thing I could neglect was this site. The dog is house trained though and repairs on the house are coming along so I've time to devote to it again. Special thanks go out to those of you who submitted lyrics or offered me help, especially Anita C. I've got anti-virus software installed now, so I'll be finishing adding all those lyrics and sending you all e-mails, though it'll be from a different account. This webhosting doesn't have outgoing service...

I'll probably use the mail account of my new puppy-inspired site, Dogs ABC. Right now it's a little sparse, but hopefully I'll be adding to both these sites at an accelerated rate. Thanks once again for your patience.

After a month of neglect, I did some more work on the site and added about 330 BB King lyrics. Next up is Ray Charles and then it's on to working on some of the less publicly well known artists. Probably Taj Mahal since the number of lyrics I have compared to his body of work is miniscule.

I'd also like to thank you all for the e-mails I've recieved, though I'm too paranoid to open them until I get an anti-virus program and add a .dll file that will force Outlook 2000 to convert html e-mails to RTF. Call me paranoid, because I am, but the crazy things you can do with just html in an e-mail makes me cringe. Until I get off my butt and set that up though, thanks again.

I added some more blues lyrics. Still nothing big yet, I'm avoiding the really big guns right now because it'll be an all weekend job to do BB King or Ray Charles properly. For the time being, enjoy Hellen Humes and Bukka White lyrics.

The Blues News, January 10th, 2004

I added some Albert King and Brownie McGhee lyrics. At the next major update I'll be sticking them onto the menu bar.

Forgive the house-cleaning over the next few days while I get settled in. I've already got some more blues lyrics to add, I just haven't had a chance to do it because of the holidays. Sadly, I've had to disable the "submit" function on the "add" page and correction pages until I have the time to figure out the script. In the meantime if you have any corrections to make to some of the blues lyrics feel free to mail them to the address at the bottom of each page.
